I have acquired some new Zoyas over the past year (Pixie Dust Rocks) and took it upon myself to make a nail polish rack to highlight all my beauties. Granted it looks like a child made it but I don't really care. At least they aren't in a box under the bed.
It is what it is...
I am a nail polish junkie but also have interests in fashion, beauty, health, and fitness.

New beginnings
Since my knee surgery in December I have changed how I eat in a big way. I need to drop a lot of weight to take pressure off of my joints and after much research decided that the Ketogenic eating program was the right program for me to follow.
Here is why: I am hypoglycemic and anemic so eliminating the foods that cause highs and lows in my blood sugar is necessary for my sanity and more protein will cure my anemia naturally instead of me taking those nasty iron pills. I really hate eating pasta and being tired afterward. I really hate eating oatmeal for breakfast and feeling like I should take a nap. Based on my research this Ketogenic eating program will help get these in check since the program consists of 5% carbs, 65% good fat and 30% protein. Basically if it's green and has a face I can eat it. :-) The best part of this diet is BACON!
January 5th I weighed 225lbs. As of today, I weigh in at 193.

I had my cholesterol checked last week and these are my numbers:
Cholesterol. below 200mg
(178mg)
LdL. under 100 mg
(112mg)
VLdL (12)
HdL. over 55
(54mg)
Triglycerides under 100mg
(61mg)
My hdL and my LdL look good. They can definitely be better but my overall scores are fantastic and losing 14 lbs since March they are going to be slightly off. Apparently your triglycerides are the most important because they determine your likelihood of having a heart attack.

Batherings and other issues
Merry Christmas and happy holidays to anyone that reads my blog. I am puttering around the house trying to walk as normally as possible after my knee surgery. My knee clicks a lot and its pretty dang annoying.
On that note.... Zoya is releasing two collections in January. Their Spring 2013 collection called "Lovely" and also their textured collection called "Pixie Polish". I can' t wait for these two collections to be released. I am starting to really like texture on the nails and can't wait. The new Lovely collection has four colors from Zoya's NYFW LE's that were sold in August. If u are a fan of pastels you will like that collection.

Knee surgery
I have been having problems with my knees for about a year. After two MRIs my doctor decided I needed to have my meniscus repaired. This was suppose to happen in June but because my iron was to low it was postponed until Monday.
I arrived at the hospital at 9:30 and was instantly taken to the preop area. I was given two antibiotics in an IV and some nasty drink to neutralize tummy acid. The surgery went well. I was given at IV pain killer and assumed I' d be getting the same in pill form. I was sad when I looked at the prescript and it was Hydrocondone w/acetaminophen. This mixture always makes me sick but decided to take it anyway. I left the hospital and it occurred to me I didn't even ask what they did. I had my post op appt Wednesday so I was gonna ask about it then.
At my post op appointment i was informed I had left knee arthroscopic medial meniscectomy micro-fracture surgery. I have done quite about of research on the meniscectomy part so I kind of new what to expect. I didn't know about the micro-fracture until my post op appointment yesterday, so after my appt. I instantly got online to research it. The surgeon told me I only needed to use the crutches if I was feeling "gimpy". The research I had done when I got home contradicted that... Everything I have read about microfracture surgery says you stay off the leg for 6-8 weeks so the knee has time to build up a clot and thus create new cartilage. So tomorrow I am going to call the surgeon again because I have been walking on my leg without crutches and don't want to feel like this surgery was a waste.

June 2012 Birchbox
This month the theme is Jet set. All boxes will include products from around the world and products ideal to keep in your carry-on luggage. I was super excited about this month's box because the new product that was loaded online looked fun and fabulous.
I received my box. Not to happy with it although there are a few things in there that I like.
The box weight was .5665 included in my box were:

Comodynes self tanning towels (I will never use self-tanner)
Beauty Blender Cleanser (like! I wanted this last month)
N4 Super Bomb Prep and Protect (blah, I only use Pureology Products on my hair so this is a bust. I thought my son would like it since he is biracial and has the curly hair thing going for him but I was informed if it's not WEN Sweet Almond Mint Conditioner NO. )
Stainiac lip stain (yeah)
John Varvatos (I hate men's cologne. My son and my bf are soap deodorant guys and smell great naturally)
Tili baggie (hmmf)
Next Month's box should be a good one. Apparently Birchbox is teaming up with Glamour magazine. I certainly hope that box is better than this one.

Zoya LE Birchbox trio
Got my LE birchbox trio last week and I have been having a wonderful time playing with the colors. Kate, Coraline and Belle are all gorgeous colors.
Zoya Birchbox Trio
Kate is truly gorgeous. It's a pinkish grapefruit jelly. I really love this. I did two coats of Kate, one coat of Belle to add shimmer and another coat of Kate. Adding the Belle to this manicure turned this color into a more of a cherry color.
Coraline is a juicy tangerine jelly. It's gorgeous! I usually lean more towards metallics and frosts but this is just awesome. This is two coats of Coraline, one coat of Belle to give a little shimmer and another coat of Coraline. I used QNS stimulator as my base coat and Essie Good to Go as my top coat.
I have not used Belle on her own but can't wait. I am really happy with these. Perfect for summer.
